The North Face Transgrancanaria once again proves what an amazing trail running event it is. Known and recognised all over the world, a perfect showcase for runners, teams and sponsors, a great place where trail running is presented to the world and where there are always competitive and interesting races. 2025 was no exception. The Canary Island of Gran Canaria saw victories for Caleb Olson and Henriette Albon, a resounding statement of what the rest of their season may hold.
Courtney Dauwalter and Miguel Arsénio were crowned winners of the first edition of the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors that took place in 2024 and were recognized in an awards ceremony attended by both athletes.
The awards were presented by Carlos Álamo, Responsible of Tourism of the local government of Gran Canaria, and the trophies symbolize the essence of the circuit, according to local artisan Óliver Sánchez, who explained that they were designed “to represent the world and each continent united, with lines symbolizing the paths or trails.”
One of the world’s key trail running events, The North Face Transgrancanaria, is celebrating its 26th edition in 2025. With races between five and 126 kilometres, the island of Gran Canaria welcomes 5300 runners from all corners of the world – over 70 countries are represented – 57% of runners are from outside the Canary Islands in an edition in which sold out earlier than any other in the past, including the 30% increase in entries compared to 2024.
Black Canyon Ultras 2025 was once again a spectacular showcase of the best American trail running. The fast trails and beautiful Arizona landscape gives the event a unique and distinctive character. Black Canyon Ultras has become one of the most important races on the North American calendar and with around 2000 runners taking the start it shows the popularity of the event. This edition saw the victories of Seth Ruhling and Riley Brady with incredible course records. A race to remember.

After a successful start to the season with the Hong Kong 100, Gran Canaria World Trail Majors travels to Arizona, United States, for the second event of the year, the 2 race format of long and short series continues. One of the best race weekends in the U.S.A. calendar, Black Canyon Ultras, organised by the prestigious Aravaipa running. It will be a fast race, with a high level of competition, becase Black Canyon Ultras always attracts the fastest in trail running. Also, the 100 Km race awards golden tickets to the top 3 male and female finishers for the Western States Endurance Run, this makes it a big attraction to the competitive runners.
Hong Kong 100 saw the victories of Meng Guangfu and Sunmaya Budha. But a race like this is much more than its winners, it’s always more than a race. Running is Hong Kong is a mix of feelings, the nature and the city, steep climbs and soft beaches, push hard while you can and distract yourself with gentle scenery. A place to visit for running and discovering.
Brilliant victories for Meng Guangfu and Sunmaya Budha in the inaugural 2025 Gran Canaria World Trail Majors race, Hong Kong 100. Chinese dominance with podium finishes for Guidu Qin and Guomin Deng in the men’s race while in the female Veronika Leng and Hau Thi Ha do it in the women’s race. In the Short Series by Gran Canaria World Trail Majors, first race in the new short distance series, sees victories for Yang Jianjian and Ram Maya Budha (Sunmaya’s sister!).
The outskirts of the immense city of Hong Kong, on the Sai Kung peninsula and a large part of the UNESCO Global Geopark, will see the fifteenth edition of the Hong Kong 100 take place from the 16th to the 18th of January, which once again kicks off the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors Series 2025. A strong field of runners will battle for the glory of winning one of the most prestigious trail running events in Asia.
33, 56 or 103 kilometres and thousands of steps wind along the coastline with the South China Sea in sight, in a setting that will bring together more than 2,800 runners from 60 countries. The event consists of three races, The Third, The Half and the Hong Kong 100 itself plus a combined race for the strongest (the “Grand Sam”, 192 km and +9000 m over three days).
Gran Canaria World Trail Majors is pleased to announce the creation of the Short Series by Gran Canaria World Trail Majors to include more trail runners to its already established long distance series. The Short Series follows the same model as the long-distance races, open to all, built on diversity and respect, independent, but aiming to be more inclusive for more runners. If World Trail Majors are “Races of a Lifetime” Short Series are also “Races for Everyone”.
After the recent announcement of the Australian Grampians Peaks Trail 100 Miler to the second season of the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors, we now announce a second new race to the 2025 season with the Vietnam Mountain Marathon. The event is the oldest in Vietnam and annually brings together over 4000 runners over its various distances. The race joining the World Trail Majors series is the 100 Kilometre distance.
