The Gran Canaria World Trail Majors is proud to announce the induction of Australia’s Grampians Peaks Trail 100 Miler (GPT100) into the global series for 2025 and beyond. Australia’s GPT100 will now sit alongside races in Canada, France, Hong Kong/China, Japan, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the U.S.A and the United Kingdom.

The Grampians Peaks Trail 100 Miler challenges athletes to a technical 162 kilometre point-to-point race crossing the entirety of the Grampians / Gariwerd National Park in Victoria, Australia, from north to south and will be held from Thursday 6 – Sunday 9 November 2025.

The Grampians and the Grampians Peaks Trail

Just over two hours northwest of Melbourne, the most second most populous city in Australia, lie the Grampian or Gariwerd National Park, to use the Aboriginal name, the traditional owners of these lands for over 20,000 years. The hills are like an island, with rocky outcrops, beautifully coloured granite cliffs and eucalyptus forests emerging from nowhere. It is also a refuge for kangaroos, echidnas, cockatoos, and emus. About 1,000 different plants and shrubs can be found in this territory and a good number are unique to the area. Surrounding the National Park is mainly flat and fertile land used for agricultural and livestock farming.

The GPT100 follows the Grampians Peaks Trail, 162km with 7700m+ of vertical gain, a point-to-point hiking trail established in 2021, the trail was laid out with twelve intermediate campsites to hike over thirteen days, the race is non-stop with a time limit of 53 hours. The trail was built to follow the ridgelines, to work with the landscape and to not intrude. You flow with the terrain. It is incredibly relentless and technical due to the never-ending rocky ridgelines. The views along the route are nothing short of spectacular.

The Event itself embraces the local communities of Halls Gap and Dunkeld. The cafes, restaurants and local businesses in the area love to welcome the adventurous spirit of trail runners and they provide a true taste of Australian hospitality.

Gran Canaria World Trail Majors welcomes the GPT100

Gran Canaria World Trail Majors is excited to have the GPT100 join its World Class list of races, offering adventure and experience for amateur and professional runners, sporting and cultural journeys beyond distance and elevation gain. Australia, the state of Victoria and GPT100 are another of those places where you must go once in your life.

Steve Brammar, co-director of the Anta Hong Kong 100 commented: “All the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors races wish a warm welcome to the Grampian Peaks Trail 100 Miler team. Some of us were lucky enough to be at the GPT100 races in November and see for ourselves the beautiful landscapes, the highly professional organisation, the super-friendly volunteers and the abundant wildlife.

With kangaroos, parakeets, cockatoos, echidnas and emus greeting us everyday, it was an unforgettable adventure. Now that GPT100 is in the World Trail Majors we have a good excuse to go back to the Grampians / Gariwerd, and we can’t wait!”
